Nothing better than those immortal words by Nehru on the 15th aug 1947!
"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long supressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of Inida and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.
JAI HIND
Some things in life will never change, they will be forever etched in the minds of people and will continue to inspire and infuse a kind of identity and vision that our forefathers wanted to give the nation!
They will always inspire you and whenever u feel low in life act as a stimulant in re-invigorating you! It will inspire u to think, take a look around you,the innumerable sufferings around u and would question if this was what was envisioned when we got an independent india
However 50 years from now i dont know how todays generation would view and look at this speech!
Will it create the same impression that it has created on us or will it be just another page in the history text book!
I am not being sarcy and i dont also want to comment on the future. But things a of now seem to be headed in a direction where 50 years hence identity itself would have no meaning,I am not being a cynic but its anyones guess what the future is! What will a country mean to an individual or for that matter what will family, caste, religion connote!
On second thoughts its good that a country like ours would have progressed by leaps and bounds if the above was true.Hence in a sense that would be good but Then progress itself would also be questioned.
However without drifting further, let us for a moment just get inspired by those words, let us have that collective feeling{Though i think this is the biggest hindrance and this will increase in the years to come) about being indian and in turn the collective responsibility that we owe towards it.
Let us for a moment just rejoice in the feeling of being Indian and be proud of the country we are part of!
Jai Hind!
